Discover Tec Diving
So you want to become a technical diver, or at least you think you might but there are a few nagging questions in your head. How much will it cost me, how long will it take, what if…?
The PADI Discover Tec Diving lets you try technical diving equipment and procedures without the cost or commitment of doing a full technical training programme. You will get an overview of technical diving equipment, techniques and training costs and best of all you get to try it out by using some of the best technical diving equipment available in the pool.
You will need your basic scuba gear and you will try technical scuba diving equipment.
How do I get started?
Just sign up to one of our scheduled PADI Discover Tec Diving Sessions and away you go. There is nothing easier and no catches.
What will I do?
During your session you will cover the following:
- Is technical diving for you
- An overview of the training involved in the Tec Diver programmes
- Equipment considerations for technical diving
- Practical experience of technical diving equipment and training
You will an evening of informal talks on technical diving from our technical instructional team from basic equipment needs to diving with a CCR.
The evening will culminate with a pool session which will allow you to try out some of the equipment and tecniques for yourself. By the end of the evening you will hopefully understand a little more about technical diving and be able to make a more informed choice as to whether technical diving is for you.
How long will it take?
The PADI Discover Tec Diving takes place over one evening.
What will I need?
The PADI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent is the prerequisite for the PADI Discover Tec Diving session. You will also need to have proof of at least 10 logged dives.

Where can I go from here?
Once you have completed your PADI Discover Tec Diving session you will have an idea of the requirements to progress onto the actual Tec Diver training offered here at Aquasport. Your instructor will have given you a training schedule which will cover all you will need to embark on your technical diving future. The prerequiste training you will need before you can start on the PADI Tec 40 Diver is the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, PADI Enriched Air Diver and PADI Deep Diver Specialties.
Once you have completed five PADI specialties and your PADI Rescue Diver and have 50 logged dives you hold all the prerequisites for the PADI Master Scuba Diver certification. This is the highest non-professional rating in the PADI system of diver education.
Here at Aquasport all of our Instructors hold this level of recreational certification. We recommend that every diver takes this route regardless of their further ambitions as we see it as a commitment to education and a real achievement.
For those of you with deeper and longer expectations the PSA Inspiration Closed Circuit Rebreather training programmes may be what you are looking for.
