The country may be gearing up for Christmas but we know there’s is still a lot of diving to be had between now and December 25th and that’s why we have a feature packed month for you.
That said, we do kick off the month with the annual Aquasport Christmas Party. The invites have already gone out via e-mail but in case you haven’t seen them the details are as follow.
The party will be held at the Loundon and Pavilion Suite at Birmingham’s Botanical Gardens on Saturday 1st of December starting at 7pm. Tickets cost £37 for Aquasport Club members and £42 for non-club members. For that you get an welcome drink, three course festive dinner with a late bar and a disco.
The dress code is smart (no jeans) but considering we have seen what you look like when you get of the water, this is the chance for you to impress with what you look like with your glad-rags on.
Hot on the heels of the Christmas do we have an intriguing talk from passionate UK wreck explorer Rich Walker on a D-Day disaster that the military tried to hide and a research project that is throwing up new information about two shipwrecks off the coast of Devon.
Rich set up Project Tiger to investigate, document and conserve the wrecks of two giant Landing Tank Ships found in the waters of the English Channel. The tragic story of how they got there will be revealed when Rich talks about the diving project at Aquasport on Monday 10th December from 7pm. Full details coming soon.
You can’t fail to have noticed that the dark nights are here. Yes, I know it means that winter is on its way but it also means Night Diving. We will be running PADI Night Diver Specialty training programme on Thursday evenings at Dosthill.
While diving at night might sound eerie, your training will ensure you’ll no longer be afraid of the dark, all in as little as four evenings. And now is perfect time to get your training completed because the water is still reasonably warm and the viz is great. To take the plunge click here.
We also have a busy programme of PADI Open Water fastrack courses throughout the month, starting on December 1st and 15th, ideal if you want to learn to dive before jetting off to some far flung destination for a winter holiday. Completing in the UK before you go means you are not going to waste your precious holiday time sitting in a classroom or pool. You’ll be diving instead.
If you haven’t got enough time to do the full two weekend course we have the perfect solution with the PADI Open Water Diver Referral programme which will get your academic and pool sessions completed before you go.
For our new divers, what better way to finish the year that as a newly certified Advanced Open Water Diver. The training programme starts on Friday 14th Deecmber and in just one weekend we will help to improve the way you dive while also building your experience in a number of new areas of diving. It could just be the perfect tonic you need to get away from the festivities.
And finally as a heads’ up, we have one of the diving industry’s top names, Dr Neal Pollock, talking to us on Thursday 29th November. When it comes to what happens to the human body in extreme environments Dr Pollock knows it better than almost anyone else on the planet.
He had agreed to present some of his research to Aquasport divers. If it’s anything as fascinating as his talks to the scuba industry last year then he will change the way you look at diving. This is one not to be missed so keep the date free. More details coming soon.
