PADI Tec 45 Diver

The PADI Tec 45 Diver picks up where PADI Tec 40 Diver leaves off and takes your training as a technical diver further and deeper by engaging in accelerated decompression using enriched air or oxygen. It is the second subcourse in the full PADI Tec Diver programme.

To Start…

How do I get started?

Tec 45

As with all of the technical diving education programmes at Aquasport you start with the training materials. A deposit of £100 is required to book your PADI Tec 45 Diver.

If you did your PADI Tec 40 Diver with us you will already have the materials required to complete the PADI Tec 45 Diver, if not you will need the PADI Tec Deep Diver Crew Pack to study prior to the start of your training. The pack includes the PADI Tec Deep Diver manual, dive planning checklist and dive planning slate.

The optional Equipment Set-up and Key Skills DVD is a great tool to help you practice at home in between your tec diving training sessions. You’ll continue to use the Tec Deep Diver Crew Pack throughout your technical training.

What will I do?

During your programme you will cover the following:

  • The skills and equipment and planning required to dive to a maximum of 45 metres
  • The knowledge to plan and execute single and repetitive decompression dives using a single stage cylinder of EANx or oxygen to accelerate or add conservatism to the decompression stops
  • There would be no time limit to amount of decompression
  • Prepare for and respond to foreseeable technical diving emergencies
  • Master the basic skills and procedures you’ll need as you move into deeper technical diving
  • You will use basic technical diving equipment including one stage cylinder during the PADI Tec 45 Diver programme.

You’ll use the Tec Deep Diver manual, which introduces you to

    • tec diving jargon
    • emergency procedures
    • decompression and stage cylinder handling
    • gas planning

Since the PADI Tec 45 Diver is a subsection of the PADI Tec Diver programme your training will credit you toward the PADI Tec 50 Diver.

You will participate in at least one confined water training dive and at least three open water training dives with your instructor, to a maximum depth of 45m.

    How long will it take?

You will also complete the first confined water training dive in our on site training pool.

The remaining three open water training dives will be scheduled to be completed over one weekend.

    What will I need?

The PADI Rescue Diver certification or equivalent and the PADI Tec 40 Diver certification or equivalent are the prerequisites for the PADI Tec 45 Diver.

You will also need to have proof of at least 50 logged dives, of which at least 12 dives were made with enriched air deeper than 18m and 6 (with or without EANx) dives were deeper than 30 metres.

All standard and technical scuba equipment requirements, site entry fees, boat fees and air and enriched air fills are not included in the price of the PADI Tec 45 Diver.

The minimum age of enrollment on this programme is 18yrs.

You will need to fill out a self certification medical statement and also have it signed by a doctor prior to the start of your training. If you have any medical conditions you think may prevent you from scuba diving please feel free to contact us and we will try to be of assistance.

    Where To?

Where can I go from here?

Once you have completed your PADI Tec 45 Diver then the obvious next step is onto the PADI Tec 50 Diver. If you do not yet have the required number of dives then discuss this with your instructor and see if these can be combined with the club diving schedule and arrange for a time to complete these.

For those of you with deeper and longer expectations the PSA Inspiration Closed Circuit Rebreather training programmes may be what you are looking for.
