PADI Twin Set Diver Specialty
If you’re interested in the idea of technical diving, but still have not made up your mind whether it is for you or not, or if you just think learning to dive with a twin set would be a cool experience, then why not sign up for the Twin Set Diver Specialty.
Written specifically for the UK diving market and recognised and approved by PADI as a Distinctive Specialty, the training will give you a full overview of how easy diving with a twin set really is. Hopefully at the end of the weekend you will be a full convert to the idea of technical diving.
You don’t need to own a twin set as all the equipment is provided including twin 12ltr manifold cylinders, wing system and regulators. Once you have completed the training these sets are available to you to hire if you decide not to buy your own.
How do I get started?
As with all of the diving education programmes at Aquasport you start with a deposit of £50. There are no manuals so you don’t have to worry about any home study.
What will I do?
During your programme you will cover the following:
- Advantages of diving with a twin set system
- Components of a twin set and corresponding equipment
- Types of twin sets and their configuration
- Gas management
You use recreational scuba equipment, with some minor additions to enhance your ability to deal with tecnical diving conditions.
As well as a hands on overview in the classroom, the practical training includes at least one confined water dive in the pool and two open water dives with your instructor.
How long will it take?
The Twin Set Diver takes place over one weekend.
On the Saturday day will concentrate on completing the theory sections and pool training.
The Sunday will cover all the practical sessions during your two open water training dives.
What will I need?
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification or equivalent are the prerequisites for the PADI Twin Set Diver Specialty.
The minimum age of enrollment on this programme is 15yrs.
You will need to fill out a self certification medical statement prior to the start of your training. If you have any medical conditions you think may prevent you from scuba diving please feel free to contact us and we will try to be of assistance.

Where can I go from here?
Once you have completed your Twin Set Diver Specialty then the obvious next step is onto the PADI Tec 40 Diver. If you do not yet have the required number of dives then discuss this with your instructor and see if these can be combined with the club diving schedule and arrange for a time to complete these.
For those of you with deeper and longer expectations the PSA Inspiration Closed Circuit Rebreather training programmes may be what you are looking for.
